The title for this blog is a quote taken from an article that Dr. Barry Friedberg, renowned anesthesiologist, made about Conrad Murray and his treatment (or lack thereof) of his patient, Michael Jackson. The article can be read here. Friedberg states:
"In a California that could not convict the clearly guilty OJ Simpson, it is not clear that a conviction can be obtained for the equally guilty Conrad Murray.
That being said, no amount of defense attorney posturing or attempts to create reasonable doubt can ever relieve Murray of his responsibility to have watched and monitored Jackson.
I was interviewed by Michael Flanagan, one of Murray’s defense attorneys, as the first anesthesiologist chosen to be a witness on behalf of Murray’s defense.
Prior to this interview, when I had written the Michael Jackson chapter in ‘Getting Over Going Under,’ I assumed Murray was over his clinical training and expertise giving propofol .
Flanagan dispelled that impression when he described how Murray gave propofol for cardioversions (electrical activity delivered to a heart with atrial rhythm disturbance). Flanagan said, ‘Murray did not even start an intravenous. He simply ‘mainlined’ the propofol directly into a vein.’
I told Flanagan that he impressed me but not at all in the manner in which he had hoped.
There is no word in the English language to describe the recklessness of Murray ‘mainlining’ propofol for cardioversion. Not even a day one intern right our of medical school would be so reckless and cavalier.
The only thing more reckless than Murray’s conduct at Jackson’s home would have been to have taken Jackson up in a plane and pushed him out without a parachute.
‘Mainlining’ propofol along with Murray’s failure to provide child support for the multiple illegitimate children he has fathered with multiple women & his long history of failure to honor other financial obligations leads me to reassess my diagnosis of Murray’s personality.
Murray is the ‘poster child’ for Sociopaths of America.
He is not an ignorant fool but a person who does not think the norms of behavior apply to him.
When he disclaims responsibility for the death of Michael Jackson, it is the sociopath speaking who is convinced of his own words and clearly believes he will convince a jury as well.
Another attempt to rehabilitate Murray’s image to the public included a release saying he had never been sued for malpractice. As if never being sued would be to give testimony to his wonderful doctoring. An informed listener should quickly recognize this record is a greater testimony to a sociopath’s slick talking, not to great doctoring.
Do not believe a single Murray utterance that cannot be independently confirmed.
Sadly, even if convicted and deprived of a license to practice medicine, Murray is unlikely to stop practicing. The rules just don’t apply to him, at least, in his mind anyway."
While agree with Dr. Friedberg wholeheartedly, the issue is so simple here. Murray took the Hippocratic Oath, claiming he would "do no harm" to his patients. He used an anesthetic in a home setting, which unfortunately at this time, is not illegal. However, Conrad Murray administered propofol into Jackson's veins without a monitor and left him unattended. By the time Murray got off the phone and returned to the room, Jackson was already dead.
Yes, Murray is a sociopath. But what matters here is whether he is guilty of involuntary manslaughter. Prosecutor David Walgren must be able to prove that Conrad Murray's use of propofol unattended and unmonitored is the equivalent of California Penal Code 192b PC, which states "during the commission of a lawful act which involves a high risk of death or great bodily harm that is committed without due caution or circumspection." Conrad Murray used neither due caution nor circumspection while administering propofol into Michael Jackson's veins, unattended and unmonitored. It's really just that simple.

Hi. I believe Friedberg was referring to mainlining propofol regarding his cardiac patients; not in Michael's case.
Thank you lmt. I amended the post. I get so flustered reading about Murray's incompetency, sometimes I misread things. Thanks again for the correction.
I'm seeing your post for the first time now after recently finishing another article. When I was reading the comments below that article someone left a brief response that fits well here:
"Conrad Murray is a classic sociopath. He will never take responsibility for abandoning his patient & it is up to the jury to assign him that responsibility."

It's as if this man has NO concept of what HE has done to another human life through HIS actions. To blame the victim, as he insists on doing, is sick and leaves me speechless.
Here's another comment left at the article SandyK mentions (and for which she provided the source) which fits this situation:
"Conrad Murray was a drug dealer in a lab coat, who prostituted his profession for big time cash and celebrity whoring."
In all respects, the comments to this article in my opinion are insightful and intelligently written.
conrad murrary has to be the poster child for sociopaths in america.he acts like he did nothing wrong.he first of all is not licenced to administer propolol,he was not in a hospital setting,he lefted michael unattended, while he made personal phone calls, after finding his patient unresponsive,he starts hiding evidence instead of calling for help, and then after help arrives ,he did not mention once to paramedics that he had administered propolol.then he disapeared, only to come back and make a public statement on tv,dont worry it will be alright,i did noyhing wrong.it takes a socioppath to do this,he thinks he can generates sympathy, here he is using his victim again, michael did this before his trial started.if you view these televised statements michaels and then murrays, they are very similar.then lastly to say your victim killed himself.sounds like your average run of the mill sociopath.

"The presumption of innocence normally accorded the accused has been lost because of Conrad Murray's publicly uttered statements ("I gave Michael Jackson propofol," & "I left the room.")
Any prospective juror must would likely be aware of these comments.
With those statements, Murray has publicly incriminated himself for patient abandonment.
Since 1989, hundreds of millions of patients have safely received propofol in various doses because someone was watching and monitoring them.
So it is not the dose of propofol, or who may have given it that is at question, but the flagrant absence of well-established propofol safety protocols that is the cause of involuntary manslaughter.
Murray having left the room without any remote monitoring devices subjected Jackson to a patently unsafe propofol practice that directly led to the predictable, avoidable death of Michael Jackson.
No amount of defense tactics can relieve Murray of his absolute responsibility to have watched & monitored Jackson."

I think it's absolutely appalling that killer Conrad Murray is permitted to profit from what he did to Michael Jackson. The gall & arrogance of Murray is reprehensible. His so-called documentary is completely & utterly self-serving. You can be sure that nothing in this documentary will be even remotely close to the truth. He damn well knew what he was doing was wrong, & he thought he could get away with it. Murray is an inveterate LIAR. He lied to Michael Jackson, he lied to AEG, he lied to Michael's staff, he lied to the paramedics, he lied to the UCLA emergency doctors, he lied to the police, & he lied to Michael Jackson's family. Any so-called emotion that Murray displayed during the trial was only because he got caught & didn't get away with his crime. Murray claims that he was Michael Jackson's friend. BULLSHIT! Friends do not do what he did to Michael & then try to cover up & lie about what he did, & then try to make money from him when he's dead. He even has the nerve to go to church & pray. What a hypocrite! Murray has no conscience, he is a selfish, arrogant & egotistical sociopath. Murray's day of judgement will come one day, & he will not even be welcome in hell. It is completely irresponsible of MSNBC to agree to air Conrad Murray’s untrue “story” on TV. He is an opportunist only concerned with publicity & profiting from his crime.
